About the event
Marc André adds to the original pieces for double bass all possible transcriptions. Witness, for example, the lieder from the cycle The Loves of the Poet by Schumann or the famous waltz "Je veux vivre " from Romeo and Juliet by Gounod, which the young double bassist takes on here.
Dvořák, Tchaikovsky, and Gluck are also included in the program, along with lighter pieces such as Liebesleid by Kreisler or the more exotic Melodia sentimental by Villa-Lobos.
Marc André forms a fruitful duo with David Bismuth: they provide us with proof that the marriage of piano and double bass is just as legitimate as the union of violin or cello with the keyboard.
